Biography

I was born in Massachusetts in 1968 and moved to Orlando, Florida with my parents in 1979. I attended Florida Institute of Technology where I received a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering in 1990 and 1992 respectively. During my undergraduate and graduate education, I interned at Harris Semiconductor in Melbourne, FL during the summer months. My first summer work was in the area of process control and in future summers, my work migrated to the area of statistical design. As a master student at Florida Tech, I did research in the area of statistical process and device simulation. My work was used as the basis for the statistical design tool STADIUM and is described in the November 1992 issue of the Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing. During this time I interacted with AT&T in Orlando, FL and AMD in Austin, TX as well as Harris Semiconductor.

Currently, I am working toward a Phd in electrical engineering at Stanford University in the area of semiconductor device physics and simulation in the TCAD group under Professor Robert W. Dutton. My research focuses on integrating circuit and device simulation so that important physical effects can be observed during the circuit simulation. I have developed a mixed device/circuit simulator that integrates SPICE with any generic device simulator. Thus far Stanford's PISCES and IBM's FIELDAY have been included in this mixed-mode environment. I have also improved boundary conditions in PISCES to allow complex circuitry around a device. This capability is important for harmonic balanace analysis of RF devices and has been applied to the analysis of an RF power amplifier. I have done consulting work with OCD at HP in San Jose, CA, worked at IBM Microelectronics in Burlington, Vermont, and worked with Motorola in Tempe, Arizona. I am a member of Eta Kappa Nu and IEEE

In addition to my academic pursuits, I have many other interests. I am a member of the Stanford Bicycle Coalition and have worked as a graduate resident assistant at Crothers Memorial Hall in Stanford housing. I enjoy playing volleyball, cycling, and hiking as well as reading books about philosophy, theology, and human origins. San Francisco is my favorite city and I love going there to attend a ballet performance or theatrical performance, visit the museums, or just walk around the city observing all the diverse people. Besides the bustle of the city, I also enjoy escaping to the coast to watch a sunset (77k) as it lights up the sky. I am a big women's basketball fan and men's / women's volleyball fan.
Go Cardinal!
