Stanford has played a leading role in the development of Computer-Aided Design for more than two decades. faculty and students involved in TCAD span more than a half-dozen departments.

Professor Dutton's TCAD group represents the TCAD software and associated modeling activities within the Integrated Circuits Laboratory (ICL) of the Department of Electrical Engineering; it is the developer of software such as SUPREM and PISCES, from which industrially developed versions have spawned.

Currently, This group has several projects on mixed-signal noise coupling, modeling of nano-scaled devices, simulation and design of optical interconnection structures, modeling of RF devices including noise limitation and various reliability issues including ESD protection, thermal modeling and substrate noise.
